Currently on hold due to Covid-19
About 6 years ago, our Vicar back then suggested that house groups should consider a series of DVDs highlighting the activities of some churches who were reaching out to serve their local communities. Our house group decided that our community needed increased social networking provision and so, Coffee and Chat was born.
Coffee and Chat takes place on the 2nd Friday morning of each month in the Church Room between 10.30am and 12 noon. We serve free tea, coffee and biscuits–mince pies at Christmas. Donations are gratefully received but are not in any way obligatory. From these donations, we have been able to purchase 2 lunches on Jesus at Christmas 2014 and 2015. We are also able to give donations to the Church Treasurer towards our heating costs.
All our invited and our varied clientele includes members of St Nicholas’ congregation, members of other Allestree churches, and non church goers. Conversation is always varied and lively and we hope that we make everyone welcome and contribute to St Nicholas’ reputation as a welcoming fellowship.
Books and puzzles are also available for participants to borrow.
Sometimes at the end of Coffee and Chat , some participants will decide to extend their socialising by going to The Markeaton for lunch.
We hope that we are providing an opportunity for people to extend existing friendships and to make new contacts.
Do join us. We can guarantee that you will receive a warm welcome.
